In today's blog, we have the pleasure of interviewing one of our Llanelli learners Caitlin Rees Davies. Caitlin shares her personal journey of joining INSPIRE Training, the challenges she faced, and the positive impact it has had on her life.
In this interview, Caitlin talks about how INSPIRE Training helped her gain confidence, find direction, and make positive changes in her life. Why did you join INSPIRE Training?
"I started in November 2022. The reason I joined INSPIRE is because when I went to College, I started level 2 Animal Care straight away, but I didn’t get into level 3 because I didn’t pass the exams I was given. After college, I was phoning different shops and giving my CV in to try and get myself a job/work placement but the shop managers weren’t getting back to me.
Also, another reason why I joined INSPIRE, and this is one of the most important ones, is because I was friends with a group of bad people, and they were causing loads of drama, which, obviously, I was involved in, and that clearly wasn’t good. They were making me into a bad person, but I didn’t realize that until the end. So, it came to a day when I had to make two decisions: either keep hanging out with them and let them make my life go down the wrong path, or come to INSPIRE and get my life back on the right path and make new, better friends. I took the second choice, and that was the right thing that I have made, and I felt really brave doing that. So, then I started coming to INSPIRE, and I have never been happier, and I am really proud of myself for coming to INSPIRE.
Ever since I have been coming to INSPIRE, amazing things have happened to me. I have been going to different courses and doing different fun activities with the Inspire people. Also, since I joined INSPIRE, I have built up my confidence because the first few days I started coming here, I didn’t have any confidence, but when I kept coming here through the weeks, my confidence was building up more, which has obviously helped me gain my confidence and has helped me come out of my comfort zone, which I feel really good about myself, and I also feel good about myself for coming here. I also joined INSPIRE to take part in everything and to learn new skills, which can help me to achieve a lot in life as the future comes. INSPIRE is like a home to me, and we are all like a family, and all my friends and tutors always make me feel welcome here every day, and I feel really happy here. Inspire is the best place that has ever happened to me, and with my new friends, I feel really safe with them, and my new friends, I love all so much. I truly love every single one of them, and also I couldn’t ask for any better friends that I have now.".
How do you envision benefiting from your time at INSPIRE?
"In all honesty, I never want to leave INSPIRE. I want to keep coming here every day, but I understand that I have to move forward and find a job or work placement. When I leave, I hope to find a job that I enjoy and that pays well so I can save up. I'm truly thankful and grateful for everyone at INSPIRE. I appreciate all the help and support that my tutors and fellow learners have given me. Coming here has shaped me into the person I am today."
